To Walk with Giants

*A man has dreams of walking with giants. To carve his niche in the edifice of time*

How can I be joyful when I live in the midst of so much suffering and death? Because I’ve learned that suffering is a lot better than indifference. You grieve if you’ve felt joy. If you’re mourning someone’s death, it’s because you loved someone. If you’re mourning the loss of health, it means you’ve had health.Whenever you grieve, it’s because for a time you have had something precious, and that is something worth celebrating.

You can’t be merry by yourself.

Sure, you can be content, happy, possibly even delirious. But merriment requires a group, and that group is almost always a group you can see and touch, one that’s sharing the same molecules of air, face to face.

The digital revolution continues to get deeper, wider and more important. But it has made no progress at all at increasing merriment. That’s up to us.

Do just as the big dogs do,
Never as they tell you to,
For though they hate you when you’re tall
When short, they like you not at all.
